Getting Settled and Eating Some Turkey

Our arrival in Austin began an influx of new people to meet.  Most importantly Kate's great-grandmother aka Nana.  I forsee lots of games of patty cake in their future!

One of the biggest perks to being back in Texas, Tex-Mex food! Kate slept through most of her first trip to Maudie's but don't worry there will be MANY more.

It seemed we had barely landed in Austin before our boxes arrived and the fun trying to find places to put everything began.  Mom had done her best to clean out but I think we grossly underestimated just how much stuff we had!  This was even with 90% of the boxes and furniture going to storage.

With the boxes yet to be unpacked Kate had to meet her neighbors The Braggs.

Thank you Braggs for the adorable princess outfits!

Thanksgiving arrived and Kate met her cousins Tanner and Teagan.  Teagan was fascinated with baby Kate and helped me take care of her.  Teagan you are going to be a great baby sitter and mom some day!

Another Austin establishment is Amy's ice cream - mexican vanilla with strawberries yum!

No visit to Amy's is complete without playing on the cows.  Kate got to watch as her cousins fulfilled this tradition.  Won't be long until she's up there too!

Thanksgiving Day the Denton clan gathered at Mom's house for turkey and dressing and all the trimmings.  Kate got to meet her Aunt Alice and Uncle Paul.

We managed to get my immediate family all in one place for a picture.  This is a feat not easily accomplished!

Thanksgiving also brings the annual Mexican Train tournament.  It is a ruthless bunch of players.  Needless to say no one let Kate win!

Somewhere in between all the unpacking and Thanksgiving craziness, Kate was two months old.  How did that happen so soon?  She's started smiling and talking in her own special language.  I'll work on getting a video of one of her 'conversations' uploaded for a future post.

I'm still working on getting good lighting for this shot, but here are a few favorites from her two month photo shoot.  Yes, her hair is still as crazy as ever!

Still working on perfecting my feet shot.  Guess I could have removed the sock fuzz before taking this picture!

Howdy from Texas!

After a bit of hiatus, I am back to update the blog.  It has been a wild and crazy couple of weeks for the Brown household as we packed up and moved our lives to Austin, TX.  I am happy to say that we survived the move and are settling into to our new city.  While we miss San Francisco dearly we are so excited to discover beautiful and wacky Austin.

Before departing for good, we had one last visit from friends Ray and Heather who brought us some much needed dinner.  Kate was very sad to have to say goodbye.

With the boxes packed, the furniture wrapped and loaded onto the moving truck, Kate didn't seem too concerned as she played in her empty bedroom.

We couldn't leave without one last visit to the Grove for a latte and oatmeal raisin cookie.

It was a bittersweet moment to close the door one last time on Apartment 606 at 1801 Gough Street.  We had some amazing times and leave with a heavy heart and a bigger family.

Ok, enough tears :-)  With our stuff on its way to Texas it was time to get ourselves there.  Four suitcases, two weary parents, and one sleepy baby arrived at Oakland airport for Kate's first flight.

Kate didn't seem to concerned about the new pat down security regulations.

We made it through check-in, security, and boarding without any incident and we were ready for flight.  As we took off Kate fell sound asleep and slept the entire flight.

We woke her as we were beginning our descent so that she could get a look at her new city.  Hello Austin here come the Browns!

We finally arrived!

Thankfully Mia was there to meet us.

So this isn't a monster blog post, I'm going to close this one out.  Hopefully I can get Thanksgiving pics posted before Christmas :-)
