The Heat is On!

It seems like just yesterday I was posting pictures of Kate in the snow and now we are in the midst of one of the hottest summers on record.  Not sure how we will make it through our first Texas summer, probably with a lot of pool time and cool drinks.  Kate has been very busy during the first month of summer.

Relaxing in her float in the pool.

Playing poolside with her cups.

Scouting leaves in the pool with Dad.

Entertaining her cousins on Memorial Day.

Kate continues to be a good eater.  Just like her mother!  While fruit seems to be low on her list of favorite foods, she did enjoy chewing on a lime.  Go figure!

She also loves yogurt in the mornings.  Especially when she gets it all over herself.

One of my new favorite photos I got after she woke up from her nap.  We were playing peek-a-boo while she was in her crib and I ducked down beside it.  She thought it was hysterical.

Another fun game is to climb on Dad.

Kate continues to hone her crawling skills.  With this new ability she has discovered where the holy grail of remote controls lives.  She's also managed to find a TV guide from 1991.  Guess the coffee table needs to be cleaned out!

After complaining for months about how my little girl did not have a bow, Mia finally bought her one.

So many people have commented on how happy Kate is and how she is always smiling.  While this is true 90% of the time, she does have her moments.  In order to prove this, I snapped a photo during one of her less happy moments.  See!  She really does cry!

Kate posed as a very cute Groucho Marx while visiting Mia at her office.

Kate's hair continues to have a mind of its own.  This was my attempt to capture it in all its glory post bath.

I'll close out this blog post with one of Kate's new 'looks'.  I think we might be seeing a lot more of this attitude over the coming years!

Kate just got back from a visit to Grandma and Papa in Atlanta. Poor thing barely got her photo taken at all while she was there. Ha! I think she averaged about 100 pictures a day. I'll post some favorites once I make it through them all!

And She's Off!

Kate has been rearing up on all fours for about a week now so we knew it was only a matter of time before she figured out how to get moving.  Well, this past Monday she started crawling!  It's pretty slow and I joke that at times you need a time-lapse camera (the kind they use on the nature shows to film a plant growing) to actually see that she's moving.  Each day she gets faster and faster.  Her crawl is somewhere between an army crawl and a kind of ooch and pull system.  It's not exactly graceful but it does get her where she wants to go.

The first video is one Stephen took on Monday once we realized she was crawilng.

This second video I took yesterday while she was after my flip flops.  When she is motivated she definitely covers some ground.

Peek-A-Boo!

Kate has learned how to play peek-a-boo.  While most babies might use a blanket or some toy to play, Kate thinks her dress is the perfect thing to hide behind.  I have a feeling this might show up in a rehearsal dinner video one day...

Up next, video of Kate's latest mobile milestone.
