Father's Day, River Fun, and the Fourth

As you can tell from the title, I'm a little behind on the blog!  Kate will be 10 months old tomorrow so we'll take a look back at the fun from the past month.

Since we were in Florida for Father's Day, we had our own celebration the following Sunday.  Stephen didn't seem to mind the delay and was excited to be served breakfast in bed by his two favorite girls.

Kate thought she'd help Dad eat his fruit.

After enjoying his breakfast in bed, Dad must have thought it was time to go back to sleep.  Kate doesn't seem to mind the mix up and loved being read Goodnight Moon.

Here she shows off her sassy side.  This has become a new favorite face.

Once everyone was dressed we had some more surprises for Dad.
Kate helps Dad open his new Grilling Cookbook.

Yummy pickles!
And for the grand finale a wine fridge so none of Dad's fancy California wine goes bad in the Texas heat.

To kick off the long Fourth of July weekend we headed down to Wimberley.  My friend Colleen invited us to her family's house on the Blanco River.  They have a beautiful home with a fabulous deck overlooking the river.  Kate had so much fun playing their daughter Elizabeth.  Here we attempt a girls picture.

While there isn't enough water for a float trip, we did cool off for a bit in the river.

Future River Rat.

Enjoying the deck during the shade of the morning.

Thanks Kelly family for such a wonderful time!

Back in Austin Kate decorated her stroller and got dressed up for the annual Northwest Hills Fourth of July parade. I can remember decorating my bike for this same parade many years ago. Kate loved waving her flag.

Unfortunately Stephen woke up with a nasty cold so he dropped Mia, Kate and I off to enjoy the festivities.

Nana even came down to watch the fun.  She's the one in the straw hat and blue shirt.

We ran into lots of friends including Ellie and Darby from music class.

Friends Austin and Graham were in town to help celebrate while their parents had run off to Europe.
Back at the house we jumped in the pool for a much needed dip.

Over the River and Through the Woods...

Kate never stays put long these days and a few weeks ago she was off again. This time to visit Grandma and Papa in Atlanta while Stephen and I headed down to St. Augustine for our annual Shrimpfest weekend.

Even though she had to get up VERY early to catch the 6:50 AM flight, Kate was very interested in everything on the plane. She watched while her stroller and car seat were loaded into the plane.

She got a lesson on emergency procedures that thankfully we didn't need to use.

While Kate did great on the plane, the same can't be said for the two year old two rows in front of us. Pretty much convinced me I'm never traveling with a toddler!!

Once on the ground in Atlanta we met Grandma and Papa at the gate and gave them a quick 101 on taking care of Kate. With just a little instruction they were pros at working the car seat and stroller. We said goodbye to our little one and headed off to our connecting flight (I think they look a little scared!).

Kate got to celebrate Father's Day with Papa.  Here she is helping him unwrap his presents.  Seems she is more interested in the top of a water bottle though.

Already up to no good. Kate discovers the magazine rack.

Cousins Jake and Haley were father-less as well on Father's Day.  So they came over to help celebrate with Papa.

Cute Cousins!

Even while on vacation, Kate wanted to be sure she kept up with her email.  If only she could figure out how to open this silly laptop!
Looks like someone is already spoiled rotten!

And I know exactly who spoiled her.  Suspect #1
Suspect #2

Hat's off to Grandma and Papa for such a fun visit.  Kate can't wait to come back!

While Kate was busy shredding magazines and getting lots of sugar at her grandparents, Stephen and I met up for our annual trip to St. Augustine to our friends Kalley and Paul's beach house.  It was a fabulous four days of eating as many shrimp as possible, relaxing on the beautiful beach and doing absolutely nothing.

Our happy hour view.

We did actually make it out of the house, just barely though.  He is some of the crew on the St. Augustine Pier.

Anyone for a game of prokadima?

The girls enjoying an afternoon on the beach.

We had such a great time. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!
