All My New Tricks

My time between blog posts seems to be increasing, a trend I hope to end but can't promise. We've been very busy looking for a home over the past 6 weeks or so. Unfortunately we still haven't found 'our house' although we have come close several times. Thankfully our current landlord is letting us stay as long as the baby stays!

In the meantime, Kate has learned lots of new skills and seems to pick up new tricks daily.

One we swear came from her stay with Grandma and Papa was finger pointing.  When her fingers aren't in her mouth she loves to point and pick out the smallest specks.

While she isn't walking yet, Kate is very good at standing up and cruising around all the furniture.  Our coffee table now has a mountain in the middle where her reach can't quite get.

Kate also got her first hair cut.  We said goodbye to her rattail when Mimi (the lady who keeps Kate on Tuesday and Thursday mornings) gave her a quick trim.

We think the new look is MUCH better!

Uncle Rick, Aunt Clancy, and cousins Teagan and Tanner came for a visit in July.

Kate loved getting towed around by Teagan.  Nice change from Mom and Dad!

It has now been coined 'piggy face' and Kate still cracks us up with this one.  Never gets old!

Other new skills include drinking out of a sippy cup all by ourselves.

While we do love books, our love for them has been a bit destructive.  'Tails' should really be renamed 'Stumps' since Kate has pulled them all out!

I attempted our 10 month photo shoot on my own and that was pretty disastrous.  Kate no longer stays still for longer than a split second.  You can see some of my attempts before I finally gave up and waited until I had some backup.

Finally, once Daddy was around to be my assistant we had success.

We are also mastering the skill of feeding ourselves.  While her tastes seem to change weekly, here she downs some broccoli.  Currently we just throw broccoli on the floor but maybe that will change next week.

Yum!!

Kate has also learned how to strip!  This was how I found her after she was supposed to be napping.  While I did decide to edit the picture, I'm pretty sure you get the idea of the scene I walked into.  Thankfully there was no mess, just one very naked baby!

Kate has been standing for a while now, but just recently she's started letting go.  We think it will still be a while before she walks, but she's getting closer every day.

Kate loves to help Mom with the chores.  Here she helps me fold the laundry by emptying the basket as fast as she can.  Now, if only I could get her to put them back in the basket!

Kate loves bath time.  She enjoys splashing and playing with her toys.  Just watch out if you happen to be in the splash zone, most likely you will get wet!

Still the cutest baby ever in her froggy towel.

I'll close out this blog post with pics from her 11 month photo shoot.  Can't believe one year is just around the corner.  Thankfully this time her month-birthday fell on a Sunday so I had my assistant to help.
